Nader and Simin are an Iranian couple struggling with the decision of whether or not to leave Iran and relocate abroad. When Nader chooses to stay in Iran to care for his father who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, Simin files for divorce. They are granted a trial separation, but divorce is never simple, and the two must handle the complexities related to the custody of their 11 year old daughter and the care for Nader’s ailing father.
