ANONYMOUS (2011):
What if William Shakespeare never wrote a single word of any of his plays? There have been many theories and rumors over the last 400 years as to the authorship of William Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets. Proposed alternative authors of The Bard’s work have included Christopher Marlowe, William Stanley (the 6th Earl of Derby), Francis Bacon, and 17th Earl of Oxford, Edward de Vere. Set amid the tumultuous political climate surrounding Elizabeth the First’s succession to the throne, Anonymous explores the latter theory that the Earl of Oxford, Edward De Vere, was the true mastermind behind Shakespeare’s prolific literary career.
